On Saying No, 2 breasts and bar operations
This is a long overdue post, but I think despite prescription, it is of trenscendental importance, and as such, merits this obiter. *straight face*
Saying No
Last week, I got a last minute invitation to help out in an activity for one of my things. It was scheduled from 3-5. Unluckily, i had a make-up class from criminal law, and even if I didn't really need to attend (i think im doing fine in criminal law, and it was on something that i already studied anyway), i prioritised my academics for once. Back in my undergrad days, i would have very eaily chosen to cut, but here, I didn't say no outright but asked if they could accomodate my schedule. The fact that this was an activity that my qualification for giving is not very high probably helped that decision. should i have just said no outright? i was thinking, if it was for one of the saturday morning ones, i wouldn't have had a problem cutting, as i think i'd be better for that.. but well, what's done is done. it was moot anyway, they found someone else.
**pardon the vagueness of this segment, if you come from the same place, you'd know why.
2 breasts
Last friday had an unusual occurence. my younger sister had an overnight and after my class ended at 8, I washeaded straight home. Usually, while waiting for my sis, I'd end up at some fastfood, more often than not Jollibee, and hav dinner by myself waiting for her to finish. Normally, I'd get irked at jollibee katipunan coz I'd be craving for 2 pc chickenjoy with at least a breast or thigh, and they'd normally have just ribs (if you're lucky) legs or wings. I'd normally end up ordering chicken strips. So on my way home, I pass by Jollibee libis. Since i was earlier informed that I would be the only one having dinner at home, I decided to just pass for my usual craving, hoping that this time they have the pieces I want. For once, they had it. When asked what peices they had, they said breast, leg and wing. I asked if pwede breast, and they said ok. I meant kung pwede at least isa breast, but when they served both, im not one to comlain.. hehe. ahh.. a simple pleasure in life.
Bar operations
This week marked my 3rd week in bar operations. a 12 hour shift when running on no sleep is no joke. But it was fun. I played at the mass, ran errands, bonded with blockmates and upperclassmen. It is a fact that the Bar is the most grueling government given exam in the Philippines. In fact, once you pass it, your automatically become top ranked civil service eligible. 4 weekends of hell, plus hw many months of purgatory, worse, you're not even sure if you'll make it to heaven. I can't imagine myself 4 years from now in that position.. then again, my imagination isnt' that great anyway. 4 years. Have I come to the point that I think in terms of the next 4 years as a whole already? I always try to pass myself off as a freshman, and i even get away with it sometimes (in Arvisu, but that's another story). Then again, not everyone is fresh out of college. Some have worked for a year or more, a few have given up extremely lucrative positions in advertising and non-government organizations, giving up 6 digit figure salaries to attend law school. So it's not a question of age. okay, straying. ok, i'm getting lazy. i'll prob edit this again when I feel like it or write something else after sunday. Good lcuk to the barristers!
